South Louisiana Community College will be holding an information session about its Machine Tool Technology program Wednesday, July 5 at 2 p.m. at the Crowley campus in room 109.
The program starts in August and takes one year to complete. After successfully completing the program, students earn a technical diploma and 45 credit hours.
Machine Tool Technology is the study of using machine tools to manufacture products and parts. Students in the program will learn to operate machine shop equipment such as manual lathes, milling machines, drill presses, surface grinders, and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) equipment.
The median annual wage for machinists is about $41,000.
