Library FAQs

 

 

  • Search our online catalog to find books in the SLCC Library collection.

 

 

 

  • Use your current semester SLCC Student ID card to check out library items. You must be enrolled at SLCC for the current semester in order to check out library items.

 

  • If you do not have an SLCC Student ID, you must show the library your current semester class schedule to check out items.

 

  • The SLCC Library’s collection does not contain any of the official textbooks used for SLCC courses.

 

  • Official textbooks, Online Codes, and other materials for courses can be purchased or rented at the SLCC Bookstore. The bookstore is located in Room 108 of the Ardoin Building on the Lafayette Campus. Students can contact the bookstore at (337) 521-8930 or go online to the SLCC Bookstore Website to search for or purchase materials used in classes.

 

  • The only exception to official textbooks in the SLCC Library is if an instructor has voluntarily put a copy of the textbook on "Reserve" in the library. The instructor of the class will notify students the textbook is in the library. Students must come to the circulation desk in the library and ask to check out the textbook on reserve. Books on reserve can be checked out by students, but are for in-library use only.

 

 

  • Contact the SLCC I.T. Help Desk at (337) 521-8940 involving any issues with student or faculty e-mail.

 

  • The SLCC Library does not manage or resolve any issues involving SLCC student or faculty e-mail.

 

  • Use your LoLA Username and LoLA password to login to Canvas.

 

  • IMPORTANT: LoLA passwords do expire. If you cannot log into Canvas, you will need to reset your LoLA Password. Once you reset your LoLA password, it can take up to 30 minutes for the new password to work with Canvas. For assistance resetting your LoLA password, contact LoLA support at 1-866-217-8819.

 

  • For additional help with Canvas, contact Canvas Technical Support at 1-844-408-6456.

 

 

  • SLCC students receive 250 free printouts for the semester. Use your LoLA Username and LoLA password to print in the library. Only SLCC students who are enrolled for the current semester can print in the SLCC Library. A prospective student who is not enrolled and does not have a LoLA account for SLCC will not be able to print in the SLCC Library.

 

  • IMPORTANT: Students must contact the SLCC I.T. Help Desk at (337) 521-8940 if their LoLA username and LoLA password does not allow them to print in the library.​

 

 

  • Step 1: Go to the SLCC Cashier’s Office located in the Ardoin Building across from Financial Aid on the Lafayette Campus. Pay the Cashier’s Office the amount you would like to add to your printing account.

 

  • Step 2: Get a receipt for the amount from the Cashier’s Office.

 

  • Step 3: Take the receipt to the SLCC I.T. department located in Room 200 of the Ardoin Building on the Lafayette Campus. The I.T. Department will add the amount to your printing account.

 

 

  • Step 1: Click on the SLCC Database you would like to use.

 

  • Step 2: Enter your Student ID number. Enter your Faculty ID number if you are an instructor.

 

  • Step 3: Now enter your birthday. 2 digits for the month, 2 digits for the day, and 2 digits for the year. So, if your birthday is January 1, 1996 it would look like this when you type it in... 010196

 

  • Step 4: Click the “Authenticate” button.

 

 

  • Working on a group project for a class and need a place for the group to meet? Are you and your friends looking for a place to prepare for a test or do homework? The SLCC Library on the Lafayette Campus in the Devalcourt building has a group study room for just these types of situations.

 

  • Simply call the SLCC Library in Lafayette at (337) 521-8927 to reserve the group study room.

 

  • ATTENTION: There is a 2 hour time limit for each group per day. Groups must consist of at least 2 people. This allows other groups an equal opportunity to use the room.

 

 

  • The library does not have a fax machine.

 

  • The library’s Xerox copy machine can also be used as a scanner.
