The COMPASS test is used to evaluate students' readiness for specific courses.  The test consists of Reading Comprehension, Sentence Skills (Writing), and Algebra. COMPASS testing is only for Licensed Practical Nursing Students.

What You Neeed to Know

  • COMPASS is a computer based placement test.
  • Not a pass or fail test.
  • Is not timed; total time varies for each student.
  • Request for special accommodations to test, must be submitted to Disability Service two weeks prior to testing.
  • Your test scores will be available immediately after testing.
  • You can only test one time at any of the SLCC campuses.

What You Need to Bring

  • Your Social Security number to log into the test.
  • A photo ID (such as a driver’s license).
  • Paid receipt to Room 403. Pay the testing fee at the Cashier’s window ($15.00 for all three sections, or $5.00 per section). Fees are non-refundable.
