The SLCC application is designed to be completed online. You will be asked to create a Login ID and PIN, so you can login later and complete your application if needed. Please be sure to store this information in a safe and memorable place. We will be sending emails to update you on the status of your application and to provide information about getting registered for classes. For this reason, it is important that you provide an email address on your application that you will check often. If you need assistance at any time, please do not hesitate to contact our Admissions Staff. It is our pleasure to guide you through the admissions process.
Who should submit an online application?
If you are currently a college student at one of our eight SLCC campuses, you do not need to re-apply. Students who wish to change their major or take classes at another campus should complete a Change of Major form with the Registrar's Office.
If you previously attended SLCC, but sat out for a Fall or Spring semester, you should re-apply for admissions. You do not need to re-apply if you sat out for only the Summer semester.
Please submit only one application for a semester. If you decide to change the information you provided on your application, contact our Admissions Office. We will gladly make the changes for you.
We are currently accepting applications for the following semesters:
- Summer 2017 - we have classes that start May 22nd, June 6, June 27, and July 5
- Fall 2017 - classes begin Aug 14th
What will you study?
Get a list of all programs offered at SLCC and when they start at Choosing a Major.To be sure that the online application meets your individual needs, please review the following admission types to determine what type of student you will be.
FIRST-TIME COLLEGE FRESHMAN
If this will be your first time attending any college since leaving high school, then you will apply as a first-time college freshman.
If you have attended another college(s) since leaving high school and this will be your first time attending SLCC, then you will apply as a transfer students.
NOTE: South Louisiana Community College and Acadiana Technical College merged in 2013 and are now considered one institution. If you previously attended either South Louisiana Community College or Acadiana Technical College after leaving high school, then you will be a Returning Student.
Welcome back! As a returning student, you have already attended South Louisiana Community College or Acadiana Technical College after leaving high school. Even if you have attended another college since leaving SLCC or ATC, you are considered a returning student.
Students who are pursuing a degree at another college, but will be taking classes at South Louisiana Community College for one semester should apply as a visiting student. Visiting students are not eligible for Financial Aid. Credits earned at SLCC should be transferred back to your home institution when you have completed the term.
Someone who is NOT pursuing a degree, technical diploma or certification, but who would like to take classes for personal fulfillment or to enhance their job skills should apply as a non-matriculating student. Non-matriculating students are not eligible for Financial Aid.
HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TAKING COLLEGE COURSES
Students attending public high schools who want to take classes at SLCC while still in high school should pick up a paper application from their high school guidance counselor.
Home-schooled students should complete the online application.
