I want to take the ACCUPLACER - What do I do now?

  1. Determine which exam(s) you need to take
    • Technical Degree Students do not need ACCUPLACER
    • Practical Nursing Applicants need Math, Sentence Skills, and Reading Comprehension
    • Associate Degree Students typically need Math and Sentence Skills
      • If you have college credit in English or Math you may not need to take the ACCUPLACER
  2. Choose your testing location below
  3. Anyone without an active SLCC Application is considered a NON-SLCC STUDENT
  4. Complete the registration and payment sections
  5. If you require special accommodations for testing you must submit an application to Disability Services two weeks prior to testing.

What You Need to Bring in order to test before April 30, 2018:

  • Your pictured ID (driver’s license, passport, etc.)
  • Money for testing fee ($15.00 for all sections, $5.00 each individual section).
  • Testing fees are non-refundable.

What You Need to Bring in order to test as of May 1, 2018:

  • Your pictured ID (driver’s license, passport, etc.)
  • Your receipt - can be paper print out or proof on your phone.
  • Testing fees are non-refundable.

What is the ACCUPLACER?

ACCUPLACER determines your knowledge and give quick, accurate, and efficient assessments in sentence skills and mathematic skills. The results are used by academic advisors to place you into the appropriate English and Math courses at SLCC.

What You Need to Know:

  • Any student (new, returning, continuing, transfer, or visiting) can take the ACCUPLACER up to 3 times within a calendar year from the original test date.
  • ACCUPLACER is a computer based placement test.
  • It is not a pass or fail test.
  • It is not timed; total time varies for each student.
  • Scores are available immediately after testing.
  • Request for special accommodations for testing must be submitted to Disability Service two weeks prior to testing.
  • ACCUPLACER test scores are valid for 3 years from the original test date.

Re-test Policy

  • Test # 1; if unsuccessful, then wait 7 days from original test date
  • Test # 2; if unsuccessful, must wait 30 days from original test date
  • Test # 3; if unsuccessful must take a remedial class before re-testing. If unsuccessful after all 3; must wait a year from original test date before being allowed to re-start testing process again.
