Corporate College Offers Intro to Project Management Course

The Corporate College division of South Louisiana Community College will be offering a 10-week project management course beginning Thursday, Sept. 21.

This intensive and hands-on series of classes gives participants the skills to ensure projects are completed on time and on budget while giving the user the product they expect. Participants will gain a strong working knowledge of the basics of project management and be able to immediately use that knowledge to effectively manage work projects. At the end of the series participants will be able to identify and manage the project scope, build a work breakdown structure, create a project plan, create the project budget, define and allocate resources, manage the project development, identify and manage risks, and understand the project procurement process.

The Introduction to Project Management course will cover Modern Project Management, Organization Strategy and Project Selection, Organization: Structure and Culture, Defining the Project, Estimating Project Times and Costs, Developing a Project Schedule, Managing Risks, The Critical Chain Approach, and Project Closure.

Classes will be held in the Ardoin Building on the Lafayette Campus from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursdays. Funding is available for the course. For more information, call (337) 373-5105.
