safety and security
At South Louisiana Community College, our students, faculty, staff, parents and visitors are the lifeblood of our mission and vision. The Office of Safety & Security works every day toward a simple goal: no injuries, no damage, and no loss for all of those that pass through our campuses, and for the college. We believe that all our campuses should be safe, secure, and fun places to study, learn, teach, work, and visit!
We cannot do this alone. We will always work to provide up-to-date safety systems, processes, and tools. We call upon you to study those processes, know your role, and do your part in continuously improving our proactive safety culture.
The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (originally the Campus Security Act) requires institutions that participate in federal financial aid programs to keep and disclose information to the public regarding campus safety and security policies and procedures. This includes the requirement to track and report crime statistics from our campuses and their surroundings.
The Office of Safety and Security maintains an active crime log of all campus criminal activity. Individuals can view the crime log on the Lafayette Campus at 320 Devalcourt, Lafayette LA 70506. The Clery Act reports are available via the links below, or a hard copy may be requested at 337.521.8914.

Our objective is to implement a comprehensive safety plan that meets all federal, state, and local safety codes to ensure safe and healthy conditions in our offices, classrooms, facilities, and on our grounds. Our comprehensive plan for managing our day-to-day activities, including our Management Safety Policy Statement and General Safety Rules can be found below.

An effective emergency response plan involves a delicate balance of considering all contingencies while staying concise and remarkable enough that it lives in our muscle memory. We are excited to have partnered with the I Love U Guys® Foundation to make their SRP – Standard Response Protocol a cornerstone of our plan!

Most parking lots on our campuses are general lots providing first-come / first-served parking for Faculty, Staff, Students and Visitors. Reserved spaces and lots are marked with signage and/or lot markings, or may sometimes be reserved for special events with traffic cones. Please honor these reserved spaces. Lots are patrolled and violators will be ticketed.
Security
Our commitment to the security of our campuses starts with trained security staff. It includes automation, video surveillance, and mechanical systems to manage and control access, as well as close partnerships with local law enforcement agencies via Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs):
