Louisiana Transfer Degree
Looking to transfer to a 4-year college or university after earning your Associate degree at SoLAcc?
The Transfer Degree Guarantee (TDG) helps students easily transfer from a two-year or community college to a four-year university in the state of Louisiana. It provides guidance and saves time and money.
TDG insures that you can immediately enroll at a Louisiana four-year public university with Junior-level status in most majors. You must complete 60 hours of prescribed courses, with a minimum grade of “C” in each course and earn either:
- an Associate of Arts Louisiana Transfer (AALT) with concentrations in Humanities or Social Sciences, or
- an Associate of Science Louisiana Transfer (ASLT) with concentrations in Biology or Physical Science.
The 60 hours of required course work includes 39 hours of General Education courses and 21 hours of additional course work specific to your intended degree.
The Associate of Arts Louisiana Transfer (AALT) provides opportunities to acquire knowledge in a broad range of subjects, with an emphasis on the social sciences, humanities, and fine arts.
PROGRAM GOALS
- To enable students to acquire the general education competencies and cultural relevance expected of an Associate of Arts graduate.
- To provide students with the opportunity to concentrate in social sciences, humanities, or fine arts, thereby connecting core knowledge and skills to discipline-specific information.
- To offer coursework that will allow students to transfer with minimal or no loss of credit to a variety of baccalaureate degree programs offered by public senior institutions in the state.
PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Critical Thinking - Students will integrate knowledge using critical thinking and experience to produce and explore discipline content across a variety of genres.
- Communication & Expression - Students will communicate clearly to persuade or inform, interpret thoughtfully and logically, and engage actively in dialogue and discussion. Communication and expression may be written or oral, verbal or nonverbal, informational or artistic, print or digital, academic or professional.
