Center for Minority Excellence
The Center for Minority Excellence (CME) is funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education with the aim to increase enrollment, retention, transfer, and college completion rates of African American students at South Louisiana Community College. The program provides participants with support services designed to encourage, promote, and motivate successful completion of African American educational and career goals. The design of the program is to create a framework that will help African American students be prepared for life while in college and after college. The Center for Minority Excellence intellectually and culturally engages students while connecting them to the college’s resources and making a meaningful impact in their personal and professional endeavors; therefore, providing the students with a holistic experience.
