We are profiling each of our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council members in each edition of the college's newsletter – In the KNOW.
Meet Toni Celestine, Director of Career and Testing Services.
Q. What’s your ‘why’? Why did you join the DEI Council?
I believe every person has something to contribute to the world. Not everyone feels able to share their contribution. If I can assist in removing barriers at any level, then I feel like I have made a difference in my workplace, my community, and my world.
Q. What change do you hope to see?
I'd like to see students, faculty, and staff feel welcomed and safe in classroom and on campus. Everyone should be able to have meaningful interactions.
Q. How can all employees be a part of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at SLCC?
We can all be a part of this by being open-minded about ideals and values that may be uncomfortable and different – also, accepting the challenge to improve our dialogue and actions.
Q. What words do you live by?
Treat others how you would like to be treated!
