We are profiling each of our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council members in each edition of the college's newsletter – In the KNOW.
Meet Dr. Kevin Browning, director of Employee Experience.
Q. What’s your why? Why did you join the DEI Council?
I chose to be a part of this council because I feel it is important that all individuals feel included and represented at SLCC and in our communities. We do this by taking an active approach to promote diversity and inclusion at all levels, including staff, faculty, curriculum, engagement, and student body.
Q. What change do you hope to see?
At SLCC, we need to ensure that we are open and inclusive to different diverse groups of individuals within the college as well as to individuals from all walks of life outside SLCC. The DEI Council can be a great asset to help foster needed changes to ensure we include all of these different individuals. I'm excited to be a part of this change.
Q. How can all employees be a part of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at SLCC?
At SLCC, we want to further develop a culture that allows all students, staff, and faculty members to feel included and to be celebrated for their individuality. All SLCC employees are crucial to the equation, and their engagement with the DEI Council will create an environment of collaboration, belonging and problem solving to reach these goals.
Q. What words do you live by?
Faith and fear both demand you believe in something you cannot see. You choose!
