SLCC is excited to announce the addition of Mr. Steven Mathews to its Continuing Education Team. Mathews was recently welcomed to SLCC as the new Vice President of Workforce and Economic Development, the division that provides short-term workforce training, professional development, and leisure learning to throughout SLCC’s footprint.
“It is truly a privilege and honor to have the opportunity to lead the Workforce and Economic Development team like the one here at SLCC. I am looking forward to working with everyone at the college, and I am excited to see what our future holds,” says Mathews.
Mathews, brings more than 18 years of curriculum and workforce development know-how and leadership experience to serving the mission of the SLCC and the Louisiana Community and Technical College System.
Steven obtained his bachelor's degree in Professional Occupational Education and master's degree in Adult Education (with a focus in Career & Technical Education) from Eastern New Mexico University after successfully completing his own technical/community college journey. Steven is self-motivated, progress-driven, and possesses a long-standing record of innovation.
“Steven comes to SLCC with a diverse resume of education, experience, and accomplishments in higher education as well as workforce and economic development,” says SLCC Chancellor Dr. Vincent June. “Steven grew up in Louisiana and spent much of his career out of state, so we warmly welcome him back to Louisiana. We look forward to Steven joining our leadership team and elevating our short-term training programs in Acadiana.”
