This month is Women’s History month and SLCC is proud to celebrate the women who make our community and college strong. On March 16th, the annual Women's Leadership Conference, hosted by the University of Louisiana at Lafayette's Office for Campus Diversity, will be held in-person at the UL Lafayette Student Union. This is the 16th year for the conference, and it will feature educational breakout sessions, inspirational awards presentations, and empowering keynote speakers.
“This is my 11th year attending and participating in the Women’s Conference and each year it gets better and better. We see new faces, hear new perspectives, we get to exchange new ideas and celebrate women in our community,” says Lawana Stokes, SLCC Gulf Area Campus Director. Stokes, along with other SLCC staff, will be featured as a “30-Minute Mentor.”
The conference brings together professionals and students throughout the community to commemorate National Women's History Month. It provides an opportunity for personal and professional leadership development that is centered on the needs of women from various cultural backgrounds.
Other conference highlights include the announcement of the Sarah Brabant Trailblazer Award, Rising Leader Award, and Emerging Leader Award winners during the Keynote & Awards Luncheon. These awards honor individuals who are collaborative, dedicated, passionate, and inspirational leaders who have made substantial contributions to advancing leadership and gender equity. Breakout sessions spanning various topics, including one with SLCC’s own Toni Celestine, will also be held throughout the conference.
The Conference will be March 16, 2023, at the UL Lafayette Student Union. Please click to register for the Women's Leadership Conference.
