South Louisiana Community College (SLCC) and McNeese State University have signed a new 2+2 agreement that will allow students to seamlessly transfer from SLCC's associate degree program in business to McNeese’s bachelor's degree program in business. The agreement will go into effect for the Spring 2023 semester.
The new agreement was signed May 17, 2023, on SLCC’s Lafayette Campus. The 2+2 agreement will allow students to complete their first two years of coursework at SLCC, then transfer to McNeese to complete the final two years of their bachelor's degree. This new initiative will allow more students to further their education, enriching both communities.
“Students deserve a straight path to transfer from the community college to their chosen university," said Dr. Crystal Lee, VC for Academic and Student Affairs. “This transfer agreement between South Louisiana Community College and McNeese State University, provides students majoring in Business, exactly that, a clear path to success.”
The new agreement will benefit both SLCC and McNeese by providing a clear pathway for students to earn a bachelor's degree upon completion of the Associate of Science (AS) in Business from the Department of Business and IT at South Louisiana Community College. The course can be transferred and applied towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Management, or Marketing from the College of Business at McNeese. It will also strengthen the partnership between the two institutions and promote educational opportunities for south Louisiana.
“Students who transfer to McNeese State University will be earning a degree from an Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International accredited institution. AACSB is the gold seal and has accredited the top 5% of business programs in the world,” explained Dr. Shuming “Sherry” Bai, dean of McNeese College of Business.
“We are thrilled to partner with South Louisiana Community College to provide a clear pathway to a bachelor’s degree for students to realize their academic and career goals,” said Dr. Chip LeMieux, provost and vice president for academic affairs and enrollment management. “We look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with SLCC by providing academic articulation agreements for easy transitions from associates to bachelor’s degrees.”
Students interested in participating in the 2+2 program should contact the admissions office at either institution for more information. A similar agreement between SLCC and University of Holy Cross will also go into effect this fall semester, enabling more avenues for students to further their education.
