Need experts? SLCC is full of them! Here’s what Vu Mai, one of our automotive instructors, has to say about vehicle maintenance before you head out of town.
“Before you hit the open road, it's crucial to ensure that your vehicle is in optimal condition. Taking some time to perform simple maintenance tasks can help prevent unexpected breakdowns and ensure a smooth journey.” – Vu Mai, SLCC Automotive Instructor
Here are a few more tips from our Automotive experts:
1. Check the Tires
Well-maintained tires are crucial for safe and efficient travel. Check tire pressure and inspect tire tread. Also, familiarize yourself with the tire-changing process in case of emergencies.
2. Examine the Battery
A dead battery can quickly ruin your trip. Inspect the battery for signs of corrosion, such as a white powdery substance around the terminals. If necessary, clean the terminals with a battery cleaning brush and make sure they are tightly connected. Consider getting a battery load test to ensure it's in good health.
3. Wipers and Washer Fluid
Proper visibility is essential, especially during adverse weather conditions. Inspect your windshield wipers for any signs of deterioration and replace them if needed. Refill the washer fluid reservoir to ensure you have an adequate supply.
Vu also adds checking all fluids in the engine compartment before embarking on a long road trip. Remember, a well-maintained vehicle provides peace of mind and allows you to focus on the beautiful landscapes and memorable experiences that await you during your road trip adventure.
