Dr. Damian Glover, Executive Director for Student Services at South Louisiana Community College (SLCC), was recently recognized for his outstanding contributions to higher education. Dr. Glover received the prestigious Heart of APCA award during the national conference of the Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities (APCA) in Hershey, PA, on Saturday, February 17, 2024.
The Heart of APCA award, one of the highest recognitions bestowed by the organization, is named after Dr. Yonna Pasch, director of student affairs at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. Dr. Pasch, who served as a mentor to Dr. Glover during his time as a student at Northwestern State, inspired him to excel in his endeavors.
The award is presented to individuals who embody the mission of APCA and make significant contributions to higher education. APCA is renowned globally for providing colleges and universities with access to leadership and professional development opportunities, as well as facilitating interactions with agents offering various resources such as novelty items, musicians, magicians, and leadership speakers.
Dr. Glover's involvement with APCA spans over a decade, during which he served in multiple roles including student programmer, engagement coordinator, and senior student affairs leader. Dr. Glover's commitment to enhancing the student experience and his innovative approaches to student engagement have left a lasting impact within the educational community. His receipt of the Heart of APCA award is a testament to his dedication and leadership in advancing the mission of higher education.
Since joining SLCC in August 2023, Dr. Glover has brought his wealth of experience and passion for student success to his role as Executive Director for Student Services, further enriching the college community and fostering an environment of learning and growth.
