South Louisiana Community College and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette have engineered another path for students to earn degrees from both institutions. The most recent transfer pathway agreement between the schools was signed on Wednesday, May 26. It enables SLCC graduates to apply course credits earned at the community college toward a bachelor’s degree from UL Lafayette’s College of Engineering.
The Registrar's Office announced this week that a new application process has been established for seniors applying for graduation. Students will now be able to apply through their LoLA portal.
With the start of summer classes, the SLCC Campus Bookstore has partnered once again with the college to provide students access to financial aid book vouchers to purchase textbooks, supplies, and distance learning tools.

Dr. Deiadra “Dee” Garrett, a board-certified pediatric surgeon from Lafayette, will address SLCC graduates during a 10 a.m. ceremony Thursday, May 13 at the Cajundome. More than 500 candidates for graduation will graduate this Spring. This includes students from each of SLCC’s academic divisions: Business, IT, and Technical Studies; Liberal Arts and Humanities; Nursing and Allied Health; and STEM, Transportation, and Energy. In addition, students earning a high-school equivalency diploma from the college’s WorkReady U program will graduate.
The Division of Nursing and Allied Health in partnership with LHC Group and the Myers Family Foundation will offer a virtual Professional Development Day on May 10 from 8:30 a.m. - noon. This free event is open to SLCC faculty, LHC Group employees, SLCC nursing students, and other agencies.
As part of a strategic campus realignment plan to improve access to transferable general education and workforce training programs in rural communities, Central Louisiana Technical Community College’s Ward H. Nash Avoyelles Campus in Cottonport will be realigned with South Louisiana Community College.
