Tutoring services are free to all SLCC students.
Appointments are highly encouraged since it does provide stability as it pertains to availability. We do accept walk in students but please be advised that previously scheduled appointments will be the priority.
For efficiency, tutoring services should last no longer than 30 minutes. If you request longer time, please book another appointment for the next 30-minute window. If you need longer than 2-30 minute sessions, you must obtain approval from the Assistant Director of Academic Success in writing.
Studies have shown that if you only receive help the day before a test, the desired results are usually not good. We recommend coming to the ASC at least 2 weeks before your examination to review concepts and materials. Please refer to your course syllabus for exam dates. We will not assist students who only request assistance for last minute examination preparation.
Following the college policy, the Academic Success Center does not allow children or anyone not affiliated with the college. Please, as a courtesy to other students receiving services, make arrangements for your children when you need tutoring services.

Finals workshops will be held at the end of each Fall and Spring semester. We focus on the traditionally challenging courses such as Mathematics and Sciences. We also assist with some Liberal Arts coursework. .
The Academic Success Center maintains a relatively quiet atmosphere, although it is not totally quiet because of instructional sessions in progress, students’ requests for materials and directions, and utilization of materials.
Computers are provided as a courtesy by the Center for Minority Excellence. You must sign a computer disclosure form in order to utilize these computers. Printing is not allowed unless you are a CME participant.
Historical Data has shown that students who received some form of tutoring service averaged a 2.65 GPA in their course, meaning students in general who visited the ASC made a C average in their course. However, the amount of times a student visits the ASC correlates to their grade.
