Lafayette Campus Incident

On Friday, September 27th, the Office of Safety and Security (OSS) received a report that a student on campus in the Devalcourt building had a handgun in his backpack. Law enforcement was immediately notified upon receipt of this information. While law enforcement was en route, OSS personnel identified the student, who was observed in a classroom not displaying any threatening behavior. The hallways were discreetly cleared, and all nearby classes were instructed to remain in their rooms until further notice. Law enforcement then arrived on the scene, swiftly entered the classroom, and apprehended the individual.

At that time, the "Hold" protocol was activated to keep the area clear so the event could be resolved. Once the situation was under control, the "All Clear" was given.

SoLAcc is grateful for the cooperation and care exhibited by both staff and students to keep everyone safe.
